There is no “best way’ to manufacture a motor. So what are the choices and their ramifications? The aim of this tutorial is to collect and review in one place the large variety of methods and options used in today’s motor manufacturing technology, plus some key technical and tolerance issues that create particular challenges. This is done for the individual component parts and supplies used, the processes and post-processing sequence of operations used, the manner in which the subassemblies are created and handled, and getting the whole assemblage together and successfully operating as a functioning motor. The course material will become a useful practical reference when manufacturing implementation or change is being considered.
