Siemens Introduces New Sinumerik ONE CNC — The First Digital Native Machine Tool Controller
Siemens Industry, Inc. Posted 09/15/2020
With Sinumerik ONE, the first digital native CNC, Siemens is driving forward the digital transformation in the American machine tool industry. The new controller works with software to create the machine controller and its associated digital twin from one engineering system and thus contributes to the seamless integration of hardware and software. Thanks to its high-performance hardware that interacts between the virtual and real world, Sinumerik ONE sets new standards in productivity, performance and digitalization. It is the future-proof controller for CNC machines in the increasingly digital world of manufacturing. Both machine tool builders and machine users benefit from the universal digital twin for the product, production and performance.
With Sinumerik ONE, machine tool builders can virtually map their development processes, while significantly reducing the product development phase and time-to-market. Virtual commissioning can also considerably reduce the time needed to commission real machines.
The virtual model of the CNC machine offers machine builders and users additional advantages. For example, machine concepts and functions can be discussed even before the real hardware becomes available. Sinumerik ONE enables machine tool users to simulate workpiece programming along with the setup and operation of machines entirely on the PC. Employee can also be trained simply by using the digital twin of the machine instead of training directly on the machine.
Sinumerik ONE brings new innovations in software and hardware to market, such as the ability to create universal digital twins for the product and production resulting in significantly reduced processing time. The CNC system with an integrated Simatic S7-1500F safety PLC is available in both a control cabinet-based and panel-based version. Sinumerik ONE fits perfectly into the Siemens Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal and makes a highly efficient engineering framework available for machine tool builders.
With Safety Integrated, the new Sinumerik ONE supports industry safety standards. With IT security integrated in the CNC by design, Sinumerik ONE implements the multi-layer Defense-in-Depth-Concept. With Create MyVirtualMachine and Run MyVirtualMachine, the new controller comes with software to create the machine controller and its digital twin from one engineering system. As a result, the universal concept of the digital twin, powerful hardware and integrated safety and IT security make Sinumerik ONE a forward-looking CNC and drives digital transformation in the machine tool industry forward.
