Siemens is proud to announce that innovator and business futurist Nicholas J Webb will provide the keynote address during the company’s 2015 Automation Summit at Aria Resort in Las Vegas, Nev., June 22-25.  Webb, author of “The Innovation Playbook” and “The Digital Innovation Playbook,” is a successful inventor with a wide range of patented technologies including one of the world’s smallest medical implants and the popular Hanz® line of educational toys.

“I am honored that Siemens chose to include me in Automation Summit,” said Webb. “Together, we are constructing a customized presentation from which every attendee will gain real-world, actionable insights. Innovation is at the core of Siemens and we’ll dive deeper into this ocean of possibility during the Summit.”

Webb has been awarded more than 40 patents by the US Patent and Trademark Office. He currently provides business and innovation strategy consulting to a wide range of clients, ranging from small startups to Fortune 500 companies.

The Summit theme, “Community. Experiences. Productivity,” will ring true in 2015, as the event provides engineering and operational professionals, automation and operations management and senior-level executives with end user learning opportunities covering the complete spectrum of automation--from process and discrete to motion control and drives.

The Summit will again feature the popular Connect Event, where attendees can network in-person and virtually with Siemens employees, solution providers, integrators, distributors and end users.

Siemens will offer hands-on training sessions, featuring work stations with equipment, led by technical experts, and will provide updates on recent product enhancements, including the PCS 7 Version 8.1,SIMATIC WinCC V7.3 process monitor; WinCC/Web UX; SIMATIC HMI Mobile Panels and Outdoor Panels 2nd generation; SIMATIC IPC347D; SIMATIC ET 200SP Open Controller; SIMATIC S7-1500 Software Controller; and INOX devices.

Certificates will be distributed to those individuals completing training courses, which may then be submitted for professional development hours. Classes are scheduled to cover PROFINET & Ethernet/IPTM with SINAMICS Drives; SIMATIC S7-1500F Safety Controller; PCS 7 Alarm Management Best Practices; PCS 7 V8.1 engineering, operations and simulation tools; SIMATIC Ident; and Industrial Wireless.

User-led breakout sessions are scheduled featuring best practices on topics such as energy and asset management; productivity and efficiency; maintenance and operations; and safety and industrial security.

"The Automation Summit is unique in the industry for offering user-led breakout sessions as the mainstay of its program,” said Raj Batra, president of Siemens Digital Factory division in the United States. “This approach puts users in the driver's seat in terms of Summit programming and underscores Siemens commitment to keeping the Automation Summit a bona fide user’s conference."
