Biography for Kenneth Knight, General Motors

Kenneth Knight, General MotorsKen Knight is the senior executive responsible for the development and deployment of manufacturing assembly, automation, and technology solutions for General Motors worldwide. He leads the creation of common standards, the pursuit of advanced technologies, the development of strategy and strategic partnerships, as well as the execution of major programs throughout the entire vehicle development process. He has extensive international experience, leading activities in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.

A native of Baltimore, MD, Ken began his career as a Controls and Automation Engineer working within multiple industries. Ken then held a variety of manufacturing and engineering positions at GM before being promoted to the Executive position of Area Manager Body Assembly in 1996 in Linden, NJ. Ken was subsequently appointed Area Manager General Assembly at the Moraine Assembly plant in Dayton, Ohio, and Asst. Plant Manager of the Fort Wayne Assembly Plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 2003, Ken was selected by the GM Automotive Strategy Board to attend the MIT Sloan School of Management as a GM Sloan Fellow. Ken was then appointed to the position of Plant Manager at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center in 2004 where he managed a $350 million award-winning operation that produced $6 billion revenue annually. In 2007 he was appointed to his current position.
 
Ken earned a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology with High Honors and received his Masters in Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ken currently serves on the MIT Sloan Fellows Board of Governors and is the key GM Executive Liaison for the National Society of Black Engineers. He has also previously served on the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the Fort Wayne Urban League, and the Union County Business Alliance.
